Low vision is a term used to mean partial eye sight, or eye sight that is not fully correctable with contact lenses, glasses, or surgery.  Low vision has a variety of causes including diseases, eye injuries, or genetic diseases.  Being unable to drive safely, see street signs, or computer screens can cause people with low vision to feel isolated.  Technological advances have improved low vision devices and strategies that help people overcome visual impairment and live independently.  These devices and strategies include telescopes, magnifiers, large-printed material, etc.
