Meet The Doctor
Dan B. Carver, O.D. F.A.A.O.
Dr. Dan Carver completed his undergraduate education with honors at the University of Utah and graduated cum laude in 1977 from the Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO) in Fullerton, CA earning the degree, Doctor of Optometry (O.D.). He has been a faculty member in clinical education at the institution since 1980 and currently serves as Director of SCCO's refractive surgery rotation at NVISION Laser Eye Center, Newport Beach for fourth-year optometry students. Dr. Carver is a Fellow of the prestigious American Academy of Optometry (F.A.A.O.).
Dr. Carver has a successful optometric practice on the campus of the Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center in Fountain Valley, CA where he provides comprehensive eyecare for patients ranging from young children to the elderly. He specializes in contact lenses, treatment of ocular disease and refractive surgery and cataract care. Dr. Carver is a State Professional Representative for Vision Service Plan (VSP), the largest vision insurance company in the United States. Over the years, he has participated in clinical studies for various contact lens companies including Allergan, Alcon, and Menicon.
Dr. Carver is the Regional Optometric Liaison for NVISION Laser Eye Centers. He addresses various administrative and clinical issues for over 1,300 affiliate optometrists in the NVISION network. Dr. Carver is also part of a clinical team at the Newport Beach facility. He is a regular contributing author for several optometric publications and an active continuing education lecturer in refractive surgery and related topics.
Dr. Carver enjoys an active family life with his wife, Debra, and four sons. He takes great pleasure in golfing, backpacking, and playing the 5-string banjo (but not all at the same time!).
